Best things to do in Aspen in winter

Aspen's known for its skiing. This tiny mountain town is surrounded by four monumental ski areas: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk (a favorite among beginners), and the popular Snowmass Ski Resort.

Aspen Mountain first opened in 1947 with spectacular summit view. It is a favorite for skiers, with 64 miles of runs and various trails.

Buttermilk has 21 trails, and it is the perfect place to learn to ski; the beginner trails are perfectly groomed. It is known for the superpipe and the X-games.

Snowmass is the largest mountain, with 3,332 acres and 150 miles of trails. The Snowmass Village, with its renovations, is charming, with various activities and shops.

Aspen Highlands is a challenging and fun ski area. More than half the trails are advanced and expert skiers. Highland Bowl is a popular hike; skiing down the bowl offers thrilling descents.

Wheeler Opera House

Constructed in 1800, it is a major source of entertainment with film screenings, plays and comedy, and music.

Dining

With Upscale dining and quality food, the ski town boasts a plethora of dining.
